How to connect to TTF10's chatroom

There are two ways to connect to #FTF10 through this site:

The first (and best) way is through pjirc, a java client. It's very user-friendly (and has smilies, for those of you who like that sort of thing).

The other way (use only if you don't have java) is through CGI:IRC. Less user-friendly, and ugly. Click here to connect.

Or, you can connect with your own desktop client (mIRC, Trillian, etc) to:

A tutorial for setting up mIRC

It's not hard! Trust me!

Becuase no-one demanded it: how to get connected to the chat through mIRC (with pictures!)
  1. Download the most recent version of mIRC from The Official Website.
  2. Install it. "C:\Program Files\mirc\" should be the correct install path for most of you; if it's not, you know it's not, so don't worry. Go ahead and do a full install; change the start menu stuff only if you know you want to. Just keep going until there's a checkbox labled "Run mIRC". Check it and click finish.
  3. OK, now this screen should pop up:

This is the connection screen. The first step is setting your default nickname, in the "Nickname:" spot. A-Z, a-z, _-*~` are all valid. The "Alternative:" spot is your alternate nickname in case your first choice is already taken. Fill that in too. "Full Name:" and "Email Address" aren't important, but you should fill them in anyway.

    All filled out.
  4. In the left bar, click on "servers".

This is the default server list. Our server isn't listed here, so go ahead and click on "Add".

Now enter "irc.overfl0w.org" into both the "Description:" and "IRC Server:" fields. You can ignore the rest of the window. Press "Add".
  5. Now find "irc.overfl0w.org" in the server list and highlight it.

Click "Select", and it takes you back to this screen:

Notice the "Server: irc.overfl0w.org". Now click "Connect to server".
  6. In a moment, this should pop up:

Ignore the list; it's just guessing at what the channel name might be. Instead, just put "#FTF10" into the "Enter a channel name and click join" field and click-- you guessed it-- "Join"
  7. OK, now you're in!

    Just start chatting.
