Srsly, I don't want to wait 5+ minutes for an upload to complete. I wait until a blank page appears, then reply with the same pic, and it will tell me within seconds that there's a double. So it appears pics upload as usual, go through the doubles verification as usual and then the database gets gridlocked over something. And this effectively blocks the tubes as I can't upload anything else until after it's finished. And it's been like this for two days now. It's definitely the database since I can close my browser 10 seconds after hitting reply, fire it up again and there's no pic. I check back five minutes later and the pic has automagically appeared.
Thanks for fixing the bug last time, but now it's reappeared again. It takes even longer to upload now. Guess this is a sign of some sort. I was thinking of taking a break from /niche/ so I guess this moves my plans forward a bit. Nerve-wracking not to know when it strikes and I think I'd tire of testing the waters first with posts in permasaged threads. So take your time figuring out this bug.
Thanks to the miraculous work of the Divine Ovine, as well as removal of a number of threads that were ignored for two years, it's much faster now.
I'm going to take the time to remind everyone that Clothing is not a /niche/, and threads that could better go to an existing board, should go to an existing board.
The best niche threads deal with an activity or a state of existence. "Girls wearing Hats" or the like will get promptly removed.
Interesting. There's a practical limit on the number of posts/pictures the imageboard code can handle?
It's hard to say. Part of the issue might be communication through dreamhost's SAN to the box that's actually hosting secchan.net.
That being said, /niche/ is the largest image board using Kareha, and so there isn't enough data to determine whether the problem is in the software or the network.
as the admin of the niche fetish board, I know that I have to throttle back how many threads I allow on the board at once to keep CPU costs down. Otherwise things slowed down to a crawl every time the board rebuilt.
Kareha has scaling problems.
