From a Japanese comic book, I'd say. Now now, don't get me wrong - I was merely considering the possibility that mayhaps someone, in posession of the demanded delicacy, might query this in a website that actually revolves around manga. I, for one, know only four or five words in Japanese and therefore can not contribute to the subject I just proposed, but I would be more than happy to hear about the results one might uncover whilst on that journey to the unknown.
Come to think of it, wouldn't it be just adorable if there was a site that could technomagically identify, or at least suggest, the displayed characters from pictures like this?

I don't have an ounce of artistic skill, and only access to MS Paint, but I was able to get the watermark off the left foot. I'm not l337 enough to remove it off the right foot.
