Emo to be made illegal in Russia?

New laws planned to stop 'dangerous teen trends'

* Jul 23, 2008

A new Russian law could make being an emo kid illegal in the eastern European country.

Legislation is currenting being formulated in Russia to heavily regulate emo websites and ban emo and goth dress style in schools and government buildings.

The new laws are apparently being driven by fears that these "dangerous teen trends" encourage depression and suicide.

Great, just great. Russia bans teen culture. Germany bans holocaust denial and, ironically, fascism. France bans not going on strike every week. Britain bans BDSM and goatse, and possibly soon to ban drawings.
Japan bans drawing a penis or vagina without censorship, China bans most of the internet.
Africa is, well, Africa, the middle east bans eating during Ramadan. America lets religious freaks beat the crap out of people to 'exorcise demons', and makes hacking your dvd player to be region free illegal (lol DMCA). Canada bans loli.
etc. etc.

Is there anywhere left in the world where one can be truly free to live as you please, providing you don't force harm on to anyone unwilling? Maybe I should just head off to Antarctica, see if any of the researchers need a mathematician. They have broadband, right?

That list is only reliable when compiled from sources that can be described as accurate. Obviously there is a higher rate of reporting in an industrialised country such as ireland than in say Angola.

It's enough to make you want to start a new country. But then it would be full of people like us, and I think we all know that a chan nation would end up starting WW3. It would make the Dutch look socially repressed, though.

Like stories of this kind usually are, it's most likely a proposal for a law being reported as a done deal. Possibly even a proposal by the opposition, in which case it's got about a snowball's chance in a bonfire of passing.

I mean, we've had reports of the value of pi being legislated as 3 in the US too. Didn't turn out to be true, did it.

>America lets religious freaks beat the crap out of people
>America lets religious freaks

Even more reason why religion should be banned in America. Indeed, it should be banned EVERYWHERE in the world.

>Germany bans holocaust denial and, ironically, fascism

They're banning $cientology, which proves Germans have intelligence & common sense.

>Canada bans loli.
>Russia bans teen culture

Do they really think the earth is flat?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/magazine/7540427.stm

In the 21st Century, the term "flat-earther" is used to describe someone who is spectacularly - and seemingly wilfully - ignorant. But there is a group of people who claim they believe the planet really is flat. Are they really out there or is it all an elaborate prank?

Nasa is celebrating its 50th birthday with much fanfare and pictures of past glories. But in half a century of extraordinary images of space, one stands out.

the Apollo 8 mission took a photo now known as Earthrise. To many, this beautiful blue sphere viewed from the moon's orbit is a perfect visual summary of why it is right to strive to go into space.

Not to everybody though. There are people who say they think this image is fake - part of a worldwide conspiracy by space agencies, governments and scientists.

Hey, Flat-Earthers - chew on THIS fact: If the Earth is 'flat', then why are the supporting towers of the Humber Bridge one inch wider at the top than at the bottom? Could it be... because they were designed like that, to take into account the curvature of the Earth? CURVATURE. As in the Earth being SPHERICAL.

Besides, Terry Pratchett created his Discworld to take the piss out of the Flat-Earthers, and how stupid they are.

>> No.7852

>>7847
Absolutely not. The supporting towers are wider at the base as the structure needs to be stronger there to support the weight of the tower above it. Hence they are thicker at the bottom. For the side the "experts" are supposedly on, you sure don't know a lot of elementary physics.

"Many immigrant children get even less vigorous exercise than their U.S.-born counterparts, the largest study of its kind suggests. Plenty of earlier evidence shows that U.S. children are pretty inactive. The new study of nearly 70,000 children simply found even lower levels of activity among immigrants.

Almost 18 percent of foreign-born children with immigrant parents got no vigorous exercise on any days of the week, and 56 percent didn't participate in organized sports.

By contrast, 11 percent of U.S.-born children with American parents got no vigorous exercise, and 41 percent didn't participate in sports."

"The New Zealand town of Whakatane has found itself censored in cyberspace because the pronunciation of the word is close to the offensive F-word.

The censorship was uncovered when a visitor to the tourist town on the east coast of the North Island tried to connect to the local council's wireless service called Freenet.

His Internet searches for "Whakatane" were rejected, with the Freenet website offering the explanation that: "The content is filtered so this service is for legitimate use."

Whakatane District Council spokesman Barney Dzowa said the problem lay with the pronunciation of the town's name where the "wh" takes an "f" sound.

"The content filter is an American-based product, and it does a phonetic analysis of what has been typed in," he said.

"Whakatane, to the system, sounds like an F-word.""

"The Iraqi government could end the year with as much as a $79 billion budget surplus as ever-increasing oil revenues pile on top of leftover income the Iraqis still haven't spent on their national rebuilding effort, congressional auditors say.

A report by the Government Accountability Office made public Tuesday prompted renewed calls from senators that Baghdad pay more of the bill for its own reconstruction, which has been heavily supported with U.S. funds.

The projected Iraq surplus, including unspent money from 2005 through 2008, has been building because of rising world oil prices, increasing Iraqi oil production, the government's inability to execute budgets for spending its money and persistent violence in the country, the GAO said."

>$79 Billion budget surplus

As opposed to... the US's $10 Trillion national debt. And the fact the US$ is one of the weakest currencies around ($1 US = .50p UK). Methinks Iran's decision to trade their oil in Euros (along with Kuwait, Oman & Brunei) can't purely due to anti-American feeling. They clearly saw what was going to happen way before the US's current financial woes. And US still has to kiss the Saudi's arses to ensure they sell their oil in Dollars.

And they'd better pray that the Arab oil states don't decide to convert their oil profits into gold, or what'd happen would make the Crash of 29 seem like a picnic. And the US would be hit the worst. Frankly, Al-Qaeda's bombings & 9/11 are amateurish attempts at terrorism. The Middle East could easily destroy the 'Great Satan' in financial ways, using the trading of a mere metal. Gold.

"For hundreds of homeless people, posing as phony hospital patients provided them a clean bed and cash. For the hospitals that processed them, it meant a full patient-load and a paycheck from the government.

Now some of those allegedly involved in what authorities say was a massive scheme have been charged with billing government programs for millions of dollars in unnecessary health services.

A hospital CEO was arrested Wednesday after federal agents raided three medical centers. City attorney Rocky Delgadillo's office has also sued the hospitals, saying they used homeless people as "human pawns.""

The camera, inspired by the human eye, relies on the ability to construct silicon electronics on a stretchable membrane.

In the future, these electronic membranes could be wrapped around human organs to act as health monitoring devices, say US-based developers. "

"When it comes to which country's currency contains the most cocaine the United States is No. 1 worldwide, while Spanish notes take the top spot in Europe, a new study finds.

The findings, detailed in the latest issue of the journal Trends in Analytical Chemistry, reflect the popularity of the illicit drug, the researchers say.

"These findings should not be surprising, because cocaine and other drugs are traded using cash, which is handled by the same fingers that directly touch the drugs or wrappings," chemists Sergio Armenta and Miguel de la Guardia from the University of Valencia in Spain write. "Moreover, many cocaine users use a wrapped banknote to sniff this drug, so inducing direct cocaine contamination of the banknotes." "
