I don't know where else to look for an answer to this question, so I would really appreciate your help.
Many many years ago, before the Berman act, I downloaded a "techno trance rave" 'song' from WinMX. It was obviously a mix, pretty awesome, and something like 158 minutes long. Well, I never burned it to CD because it was too long, and eventually my harddrive ate itself and I lost the song. I tried to find the file again, but to no avail. I tried to find the file again, but to no avail. Then winMX was shutdown, and even on the pirate-ghost resurrection of WinMX I cannot find it.

The MP3 tags listed a 'DJ S@BY' as the artist. Has anybody heard of this guy at all? Or was it just some of the regular winMX BS (like I suspect)?

Thank you for your time and helping out another musical being.

Nobody's going to touch this one, huh?

Sorry to have bothered you all, then.

Nothing to apologize for, I just imagine nobody around here knows.

I need help identifying a song. Included is a midi file of the melody of a certain part of the song.

Also, for some reason when I exported the file as midi from fruityloops, all the instruments changed into piano. Hmm.. I'm noob at this.

No, Im fairly sure the melody was from an old pop song. Sung by Madonna or something like that.

Bitcrush the kick. Cooler way to do it: DPCM encode the kick. (http://nesdev.parodius.com/#PCSound)

Additionally, don't sidechain the mix to the kick. More likely, you're using the Fruity Limiter on the master output and hitting the volume limit so hard that it just sounds like you've sidechained the entire mix to the kick.

Other than that, nice song. I rather like the intro.

I want to buy a guitar and amp, have set my eyes on:

Both of these sound good and have received excellent reviews, with that in mind and their fair price they seem like really good things to get as a first guitar and amplifier. After all I'm just going to try and learn how to play so I don't want to spend too much.

Do you guys have any place to recommend that sell one or both of these online AND that ship to Sweden?

>> No.10415

I don't know much about this kind of thing, but since Fender and Roland are such big brands, that particular guitar and amp are probably available in your nearest music shop. That would be preferable to paying for overseas shipping, I think.

The thing about learning to play the guitar (or any instrument) is that it's best to learn proper technique. When I started, I tried to work things out myself, and I developed bad techniques. I ended up having to re-learn a lot of stuff, particularly stuff related to fretting the strings.

So to help you get started, here's the site of a guy who makes tutorial videos for the guitar. http://justinguitar.com/
His videos have helped me a lot.

And once you've learned how to play a bit, here's a song that would be great fun to learn:

Haha, thanks I'll learn that song in a year or two. Also thanks for your advice, yes I will be watching tutorials.

As for buying it locally, the whole point of buying it online is to get it much cheaper. Only have a budget of about USD 450 for both guitar and amp.

Still looking for good places to buy from that ships to Sweden.

Since I'm not really planning on playing live I'm now thinking about ditching the amp and buying one of these two instead:

>BEHRINGER UCG102

http://www.thomann.de/se/behringer_ucg102.htm

>THE T.BONE USB-1G

http://www.thomann.de/se/the_tbone_usb1g.htm

This will save me quite a bit of money. What do you guys think, can I pick the t.bone (the cable on the right) and just plug one end into the guitar and the other into the computer, start Audacity (freeware), hit record and play? Will the guitar get enough power to sound good and will there be no delays from me hitting the string and the audio coming from the speakers?

>> No.10463

Oh hey, I remember your thread from /mu/.

>>10417

You can, but all it's going to do is send the signal to your computer. You're not going to get any distortion or effects or anything. Given, you could download a virtual amp, but I've had mixed results with those (and a real amp is almost always going to sound better). Of course, you also have to keep in mind that both my PC and my sound card are shit, so take some of what I say with a grain of salt.

I'd recommend asking some boards/forums about this that are more oriented toward guitars.

You probably want something like this: http://line6.com/products/detail/4
Now, I've got a Cube 30x myself, and it's a damn good amp, but I'm kinda itching to get one of these pod things seeing as how they do a lot more stuff than just running a clean signal gets kinda boring.

>> No.10470

IMO that's not the greatest combo.

The cubes are great, but you can do better.

I'd recommend a Valvetronix VT30, or a Peavey Vypyr. The Vypyr will have a USB out for recording.

Guitar will sound awful without an amp, and probably shit through your speakers. You might want to track down something like a second hand Korg Pandora PX4D off eBay. I have one and it's fantastic.

I'd also highly recommend ordering a guitar off Guitarfetish.com

The shipping will be hefty, but the quality of the instrument is amazing for the price; better than the Squiers anyway.

I know plenty about guitars on a budget so don't hesitate to ask.

Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
