Hey guys, I've just realised Gainax are the best Studio evar.
Should I watch every series they've made? Are there some I should just skip?

List of Gainax shit I've seen:
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Mahoromatic
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
Top o Nerae! Gunbuster
FLCL
Diebuster

>> No.2103

-If you liked Mahoromatic, then you'd probably like This Ugly Yet Beautiful World.
-Ebichu is a riot if you're okay with really crude sex jokes.
-If you have a high tolerance for little shoujo fluff, then Petite Princess Yucie is INCREDIBLY rewarding.
-Nadia lacks some of the Gainax personality, but it's a good, solid watch (albeit prone to drift and a little cheezy at times)
-Honneamise is OLLLLLD but still good for a Saturday afternoon.
-If you are very fond of FLCL and Diebuster's styles, Abenobashi might be enjoyable for you.
-His and Her Circumstances might seem mundane, but its animation and direction are fantabbo and I'd definitely recommend it.
-I think the only one I'd recommend you skip is He Is My Master, which is really, really doinky and sub-par compared to the rest. (Even the less-thrilling ones.)

Oh, and Otaku no Video if you can laugh at yourself.

Yeah, but watch Gunbuster before Diebuster.

I wouldn't.

Although different than the usual Gainax stuff, the series is fantastic. Of course, it's nothing but an ecchi comedy, but the animation is fantastic, and the story is really a riot.

Also, completely fappable.

Abenobashi is great-if your buying th dvds though skip the think pack and dish out the extra for the special addition for the outtakes.

His & Her Circumstances is great too, but towards the end it gets to be wtf-like popcicle stick animation in a few parts and stuff, also ends teribly right before vol 9 of the manga. Its the one series I wish they would have finished though because it was so good, read the manga as well-Kara Kano is its real name

I dont think KKnJ's animation quality is any fantastic, but rather spotty throughout the series. As for the show, the first 1/2 was good, but the second half ran into trouble with all those filler recaps. Plus, disagreements b/w Gainax and the manga-ka meant that the story was left hanging at the end of the season.

To really enjoy the story, you need not only the TV series, but also the manga. Of course, the manga is a Shoujo type, so when reading, one must ignore some of the sakura petals and accept the somewhat melodramatic storytelling style (especially for the part after the TV series where the story gets more serious).
