I'm assuming sarcasm on that post, since FLCL, like all anime from that time period to the present, was animated digitally. In other words, there are no cels. So...it makes the BD release likely to be an upscaled transfer, like 98% of the rest of the anime in HD.

In other words, probably better than your DVD versions (the increased bitrate alone can help), but likely a far cry from what you'd get if it actually had a true HD source.

There's always the slight chance that one of these companies will strike a new HD master from their digital source files, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that one.
