Have you been living under a rock all this time? ALMOST ALL the summons in pre-FFX have a 9999 max damage cap. FFVIII's summon system was crappy because you had to wait before your summon comes out and, during that time, it can be killed. Boost also sucks ass.

Angel Ring is absolutely worthy the money, especially equipped on your Healer. Also, go to Karnak woods and lurk a dozen rounds - cast Fire1 on the whole bunch of Wild Nacks: It's 600GP each round. To effectively electrocute the Sol Cannon, go northwest und lurk in the woods until you find a boss: defeating him you'll get him as Esper.

The character design and the later added animation sequences were done by Akira, yes, but no it is not Dragon Ball Z or any other incarnation of such.

And before 7-tards break in on it "stealing elements of storyline from FF7"... The director of FF7 stopped working on 7 to work on this and put things that were originally made for 7 into this game, it was supposed to be used in this game and a new story added for 7 but the head of the FF team at the time wanted the story he was told he would get.

Thus, 7's "wonderful story" was used twice but was technically this game's story before it became the driving force of FF7.

I am neither a furry or a trap lover. IX is one of my favorite FFs of all time. I've played FF1 through FF12 and Dirge of Cerberus and Tactics. (Still need to restart 5 though) I liked that a thief was the hero. Thats great. And so many black mages. It was old school and I enjoyed the comedy. Alot of dramatic moments too. I felt so sorry for Vivi.
