Rorschach's journal get's published in New Frontiersman, Veidt gets found out. The End
Doc Manhatten in the end tells Veidt that "nothing ever ends" and vanishes in a mushroom cloud. I think this was to hint that Veidt had only postponed the event not avoided it. Which to me says that Veidt killed all those people for nothing.
