I always felt they should put it back the way it was, only with new infrastructure. Whether they build it or not, the "freedom tower" is a fucking joke. It's like "ok well the terrorists decided we shouldn't have the twin towers there, so let's just do as they ask and put something else there, something that might not offend them so much"

Freedom Tower will top out in 2011, but won't be open to the public until 2012/2013. Workers will start erecting at least a floor per week starting in September-October of this year. It seems like most of the lobby will have been erected before 2009 is over. Keep in mind that the slow phase of construction will be over in a few weeks, meaning the workers will no longer have limints on the hours they can work because of PATH service/don't have to wait as long for concrete to dry, ect.. Currently, most of the Freedom Tower's Plaza is poured. They are almost done with grade and below grade work. All focus will be on the tower section. Of course, the Freedom Tower can't compare to WTC Tower 4's construction speed.
