Just bought a tablet PC (Fujitsu Lifebook T4010, all the expensive options on it, used for $380!) and was trying out Open Canvas on it. Pic ain't great, but I think the look is pretty close to my paper efforts...and yes, I know the chic is HEAVILY lopsided. But was too far into the pic to really give a shit at that point.

Still open canvas...

They both look really good. A lot better brighter. The girl does have a few issues but they're minor and you already seem aware of the lopsidedness. And much credit for actually giving a female hips, rare find in art nowadays.

I like the coloring of the second picture a lot. You seem to actually do better on the tablet. Only concern is his left arm in the back. It seems off.

Nice work.

I recolored LOSER in Open Canvas 1.1. I like this version better as far as the coloring goes...

I bought Open Canvas 4.5 and this is my first pic in it...unfortunately, this one came out looking more synthetic. I have to figure out the tools better...watching some of the event files from other users just leaves me puzzled...they look real and all, but I can't really figure out a lot about what they're doing...

>> No.6441

Glad to see that you're still at it.

I enjoy the coloring of the first "Loser" pic more. But i think thats just your choice of colors in that one.

I think the coloring of the blue hair girl looks great. It plays a lot more to your style. It flows, keeping with the simplicity that you're going for. The picture itself is very good. Only one complaint, very little though:
The right arm on the knee looks stiff. Just add a slight bend to have it feel more natural.

Kudos on your color choice. Keep it up!

because I'm still not used to posting on this site

Alright......Trying to add in the Critique I received I did this one. The focus is more on the colouring issure, than the proportions but I didn't forget that. The body is cut for a reason. I couldn't get it so it looked decent....not to go back to my other drawing

I unfortunately (or fortunately) am aware of the weirdness of his chest and hair. That's what I get for doing this when I should be sleeping, and for not watching close enough.

I will use both Pyro or Roxion.

Xenna, Vampire OC. I never read Twilight or saw the movie......and I'm not planning on it. So yeah no "TWILIGHT COPIER! OMGJUU STOLE THAT VAMPIRE IDEA FROM TWILIGHT HOW DARES JUUUUU!!!!!!111!!!" Because I will reply to you with a nice "Shut the fuck up." I made her as a Compatible match to another friend's character.I know the anatomy is bad. I'm still working with it, but if you feel you muct tell me what's wrong.......go for it

>> No.6439

Yes...I'm well aware she's "Half Bat" I was too lazy to draw in the wings.

>> No.6440

Ok. To be honest, a lot of things are wrong here. Your proportions are off(compare the head to the body). The eye and lips are also extremely large. But seeing as this is anime inspired that's to be expected to a point.

The pose is dull(very stiff) and a lot of the body is hidden. I'm not aware of your habits but try drawing as much of the body as you can. That will help you with proportions as well. Also the ear in the background is very high making it off perspective.

The muscles on the stomach need shading as they come off as undefined. You're coloring looks rushed and messy.

Now don't take all that the wrong way, you're still ahead of a lot of other people. My advice is when doing character designs, draw the entire body. Even if the focus is just the face. As you get more comfortable with that try new poses. Find a method to your art, it seems you just kinda draw without worrying about measurements or perspective. Even if these aren't your strong suit, understanding them always make a better picture.

Don't worry about color right now, just shade with a pencil(or pen) so you can get use to values.

It was a quick sketch, and this was just Practice anyway. But I'll try to keep all that stuff in mind.

Never, ever, EVER use that as an excuse. It's insulting to the people who actually work hard to improve their art and to the people who take the time to critique. If it's truly just a quick sketch, don't put it up for critique, goddamn.

More of an Insult to myself than to them. It is a quick sketch yes, but I need to find out what wrong with my sketches, before I put up something big. I know what I'm doing
