How much should you draw each day? 30 minutes? An hour? Four hours?

As much as you feel like.

This.

Myself, I try to get 1-2 hours drawn everyday, but that really depends of how I feel. There might be days I dont draw at all, and days I draw for several hours.

>> No.6485

If you wanna improve, I wouldn't recommend not drawing anything for more than 4 days at once. At least for me, cause I tend to begin to slip backwards after that long.

Interesting...so drawing certainly isn't like riding a bicycle?

yesterday I drew for 6 hours... it was crap... thus I cried manly tears.

You probably already know, but her face is a bit stretched side-to-side. Lopsided might be a good word for it. As far as I can tell, her arms and legs and gloves look pretty good. An overall success, I'd say. Keep it up!

I think you've just motivated me, I've always been a fan of the creativity involved when it came to Pokemon. I've never tried sketching any though. Have any other drawings? I'd like to see more if you do.

Oh, wow.

I made this thread? Whoa, I forgot. Again. Nice bump, though.

I have a Nidoqueen somewhere, if I can dig it up and scan it I'll post it.

Make me a full body picture of this girl, from front, without hiding hands, arms, legs and feets. And without any hueg trenchcoat or some shit, obscuring the majority of her anatomical features. Then I can give you more helpful feedback.

You have some nice style going on. Not mind-blowing, but it's alright. Work on it

Not important, but I thought I'd help clarify. The girl he drew in that pic is most likely Asuka Langley Soryu, from Neon Genesis Evangelion. In the second Rebuild movie, released recently, she had her last name changed from Soryu to Shikinami.

I think your colouring looks good. I like the texture of her skirt in this one >>6606, although I feel that the whites of her eyes are missing and her legs look a little odd.
I like the detailed creases on the shirt.

>> No.6608

>>6607 Yeah, there are no whites in the eyes. I still haven't decided if I want to change that or not. Usually I draw in b&w, so I don't have to worry about that. But, if it's distracting, it may be better to put whites in her eyes.

And yes, her legs do look a bit off. There are several things working against them, but primarily is that I had a lot of trouble showing depth with her legs. Perhaps if you could see her feet it would make more sense. Hrm. It's hard to show depth with a skirt like that. Any suggestions?

I think the biggest problem is that proportions get fudged up as you move down along her body. The hip is where it is most noticeable... her left hip is much more inflated than her right, even if you're trying to go for the angle.

About showing depth, showing us your construction lines would be good, if possible. If you don't know what I'm talking about, the attached picture illustrates construction lines. Use them.

Other notes...
Aside from the construction lines, I think the problem with the skirt is that the hem of the skirt is perfectly horizontal, while the rest of the body has a slight slant downward (eyes, arms, leg, etc). Also, you might want to put some shadows on the far side of her left knee to show depth. Eyes are pretty well drawn, the angle might be a little steep though. It would really help if you added a nose.

Oh, and the canvas/easel is totally off...its perfectly horizontal and 2-D! Little things like that can really mess up the overall perspective of a picture. Otherwise, pretty good job, keep at it and post some more when you can!
